05 July 2015 - Middelfart, Denmark - No racing in Middelfart today due to the lack of wind. It means that the Melges 24 World Championship ended up with twelve races and one discard, rewarding Chris Rast's EFG SUI684 as a new holder of the Melges Performance Sailboats Challenge Trophy and Tõnu Tõniste's Lenny EST790 as a holder for the Henri Samuel Trophy.

"It was an amazing week here in Middelfart with such a great fleet in a relaxing place. I'm obviously really happy about our title: we had some good start and I sailed with a really solid crew, emerging around the half of the series. I want to thank all the opponents that challenged us with a great sportsmanship. Melges 24 class is really the place where is nice to stay," Chris Rast told at the end of the prize giving, held inside the Middelfart Marina. "I also want to thank Franco Rossini's Blu Moon that brought me in to this incredible class ten years ago. I felt in love with this boat which has a design that is still competitive and modern after twenty one years. And to be here celebrating the Worlds' victory, sounds unforgettable." With Christopher Rast were sailing Patrick Zaugg, Udo Moser, Pavel Johannes Tolen and Reneé Schenk.

Rast sailed really well and starting from the second day of the event he built his victory thanks to the three bullets in a row on the same day. Andrea Rachelli's Altea ITA735 and Bora Gulari's Air Force One USA820 surrendered in front of the powerful Swiss entry that closed the event here in Middelfart with more than fifty points' margin ahead of the rest of the fleet, while Riccardo Simoneschi's Audi tron ITA840 and Miles Quinton's Gill Race Team GBR694 completed top five.

Together with a Swiss flag over Middelfart is waving also the Estonian one thanks to Tõnu Tõniste who, along with EST790 Lenny's crew took the victory in Corinthian division with a nineteen points' margin over Kicker Schäfer's Musto Racing GER803 ending on the second level of the podium and Øyvind Jahre's Storm Capital Sail Racing NOR751 as the third.

"We had a really high level competition here in Middelfart in the very tricky conditions over the week. We would have liked to have one strong winds' day here, but it did not happen. The battle for the title of the Corinthian division was really interesting until the end as the top podium places were swopped every day. We managed to win two races and I'm really happy about my crew who made it happen with me. And I also would like to congratulate Chris Rast, my good fellow from the 470-times, for his great performance and well deserved title here." On board of Lenny team besides helmsman Tõnu Tõniste were sailing his brother Toomas Tõniste, Tammo Otsasoo, Andres Rohtla and Maiki Saaring.

EFG quite on the Moon

04 July 2015 - Middelfart, Denmark. - Will once again the Melges 24 World Champion come from Switzerland? Too early to tell, but during the day five of this great international event Chris Rast's EFG (7-2-1 today) moved some important steps to the victory.

Thanks to some solid results, SUI684 has now a huge lead respect the opponents, trailed by Andrea Racchelli's Altea ITA735 (6-70-4), who managed to keep safe the second spot of the ranking by the return of Bora Gulari's Air Force One USA-820 (10-49-14), still being third.

Out on the bay the day was quite good for Audi Italia Sailing Team's Audi tron ITA840 (12-7-32) that with two races still to sail hopes now to get a podium position.

Due to the important leading of EFG, the most interesting situation is now regarding the Corinthian division, with Tõnu Tõniste's Lenny EST790 (1-9-4) overtaking again three-time Corinthian champion Storm Capital Sail Racing NOR-751 (6-1-48), helmed by Øyvind Jahre. They are now separated just by nine points, but with just one more race in the bank we will have the second discard to shuffle the cards on the table. Third is a former leader Kicker Schäfer's Musto Racing GER803 (10-38-11).

For tomorrow weather forecast predicts some very light wind. PRO Hank Stuart plans to have the start of race thirteen at 11 am.

Today the Melges 24 sailors will have a gala dinner in a wonderful Hindsgavl Castle beginning at 7.30 pm. There are the reasons for many boats for celebrating, for sure, today.

We remind you that the series will count on 14 races and that after the end of race 13 the standings will include two discards.

03 July 2015 - Middelfart, Denmark. - Sometimes it happens also in Middelfart that, after a breezy day, you have to lie in the marina waiting for some puff of wind. A lie that today ended with the AP flag over Alfa, so it means that the Melges 24 World Championship 2015 will resume tomorrow morning, with the start of race 10 set for 11 am.

After nine races, the leader of the ninety five boats Melges 24 fleet is EFG SUI684 steered by Chris Rast. The Swiss entry is now twenty points ahead second day leader Altea ITA735 by Andrea Racchelli and twenty three Gulari-McKee's Air Force One USA820.

In Corinthian Division Kicker Schäfer's Musto Racing GER803 is holding a two-points-margin on three time Corinthian trophy winner Storm Capital Sail Racing NOR751 by Øyvind Jahre and fourteen points on Estonian entry Lenny EST790, with a two-times Olympics medallist Tõnu Tõniste oin helm.

For tomorrow weather forecast predicts some light wind. Principal Race Officer Hank Stuart plans to have the start of race 10 at 11 am.
